TAILORING RULES
Black tie event coming up and need to know how to tie a bow tie? It’s a classic bow, and once you’ve got it - it’ll stick. (Psst, if all else fails then there’s no shame in opting for a clip-on.)
Drape the bow tie around your neck with one side hanging 2 inches longer than the other. Cross the long end over the short end, and then pull it through the gap between the tie and your neck. Pull it tight and place the long end over your shoulder.
Take the shortest end and fold it at its widest point, then hold it to your neck in a bow tie shape. Bring the longer end back from over your shoulder, and place it in front of your bow.
Pinch both ends of the bow together in the centre. This will have created a loop in front of your top button. Pull the longer end at its widest point through the loop.
Pull the folded end through to form the final bow shape. Tighten the finished bow tie by pulling on both folded ends.
