LATE AFTERNOON Azul Blue Glass Jug

Hand-blown Azul jug with blue spots, mouth-blown by glass artists in the Balearic Islands. Set in the foothills of a national park mountain range, the studio’s work invokes the crystalline waters of the nearby sea. Glass is heated to 1200 degrees so it becomes molten, before being blown, tweaked and twirled into shape. Once formed, the piece is left to cool down in an oven of 650 degrees, before eventually acclimatising to room temperature. Satisfyingly weighty, it’s hard to know whether to put flowers in them or whip up a batch of something refreshing involving rum. Dishwasher safe on 50 degree setting.
