My fault I suppose for not looking properly so I just assumed they had a side zip as well as lace up front. Anyway when I can bend to get them on (I have mobility problems) I find they are very comfortable. The lacing is a bit of a challenge for me but I like them so much I'll persevere. Probably won't wear them as much as I'd like but I know they'll be great for those country walks. They're well made, look good and just the right shade of brown that I like. Fit well and although not tested I'm sure they're waterproof as described.
