Buying fragrance for another person can be tricky, especially when you're shopping online. So we chatted to fragrance expert

and founder of @theperfumepros Sarah Binns, who reveals her top tips of how to buy fragrance for a loved one.

Do some digging - Find out which perfume they like and wear already. This will give you a good starting point when

discovering something new. Look for similar notes and ingredients with an updated twist.

Go back to scent school - Research, research, research! When shopping online, really take time to read through the description.

Read blogs, watch YouTube reviews and look out for fragrance discovery sets that allow you to test and try different scents.

Once you get yourself knowledgeable about different notes and ingredients, you'll find it much easier to recognise

the type of scent your loved one likes.

Familiarise yourself with fragrance families - Once you've got a grasp of ingredients, begin to understand the different categories

of a fragrance. Do they like woody smells? What about floral orientals? Once you've recognised which fragrance family

their preference falls into, your choices are endless!

Suss their style - If you're not sure what they already like, focus on their personal style instead. The look and style of a perfume

bottle often reflects the scent. Do they like certain designer brands? Does their home have a scandi, minimalist

vibe? Match their scent to their style and you're onto a sure-fire winner.

Play it safe -Still unsure? Play it safe with a classic fragrance or look for a new variation of their signature scent.
