Inspiration: William and Mary arrived from Holland to become King and Queen of England in 1689, and their Dutch heritage brought great influence on English tastes. They remodelled Hampton Court Palace in the fashionable new baroque style, which became the main centre of the court. Queen Mary had a profound passion for collecting porcelain, including vast quantities from Asia, and blue and white Delftware pottery from the Netherlands; all displayed lavishly across her palaces. Her legacy of collecting such items certainly set a trend for future monarchs to continue adding to this collection. Directly inspired by a 19th-century Chinese porcelain jardinière, hand-painted with peonies, butterflies, and birds which would have been collected during the Victorian era and showcases how these ceramics continue to symbolise royal taste and luxury. This Cushion has Polyester Fill. Height 45cm Width 45cm Depth 10cm Sponge clean only. 100% Cotton.
