Acanthus leaves decorate many of Morris’ designs and take on a central role in his Acanthus pattern for wallpaper. The classic motif is perfect for repeating patterns, and Morris held the belief that larger-scale designs were especially fitting for smaller rooms, as they could create a more tranquil atmosphere compared to denser, smaller patterns.
