Meet Cheyenne Maya-Carty – the London-born, half Jamaican, half Mauritian beauty who is taking the modelling world by storm. Her unmistakeable curls and radiant smile have made her a significant one-to-watch in the fashion and beauty industry, and she’s now set to make her debut on the Victoria’s Secret runway later this year. Here, fronting our latest campaign, we caught up with her to talk roller-skating, career highlights and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Tottenham, London. One of my strongest memories of growing up around there is of my dad taking me to the ice rink in Alexandra Palace every Saturday.
How did you get into modelling?
It was five years ago – I was roller-skating in Victoria Park [east London] and got scouted by a modelling agent.
What’s been your biggest career highlight so far?
I don’t really have any specific highlights. For me, the real blessing is the fact that I’m working, meeting new people and being lucky enough to get paid while travelling the world.
How do you spend a typical day off?
I would definitely sleep in until about 11am because I’m working most days so lie-ins are a luxury and then I would go shopping – so having too many days off would not be ideal for my bank balance! I would definitely fit in a couple of episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race as well before bed.
If you weren’t a model, what do you think you would have done for work?
I was studying to be a pharmacist before I got scouted, so I imagine it would have been something in that field.
Do you have a style icon?
I love British model Leomie Anderson’s style. She’s on fire!
How would you describe your personal style?
Some days I would say that I dress like a Spice Girl because I love big platform shoes. Other days, it’s cool and chic. I don’t do heels – it’s always strictly trainers.
Describe your beauty routine:
I always follow three steps: cleanse, tone and moisturise – and never forget to wear sunscreen.
How do you stay in such amazing shape?
I live quite an active lifestyle as I’m always on the move, which means I literally have no time to chill!
What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My family, they keep me grounded.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul
