SPOTLIGHT ON
Baby, it’s cold outside
6 February 2019

Dressing young ones in cold weather isn’t always easy. Whether you’re trying to keep a wriggly baby or opinionated toddler snug, there will be an element of faff involved. As well as a good stash of winter woollies (hats, gloves and knits), here are a few tips to help make it easier.

It’s all about the base
For babies and toddlers, a thin, warm underlayer is key. Our multipack bodysuits are a starting point. Even if your two-year-old refuses to wear hats and throws gloves on the pavement, you can rest assured they have that warm layer underneath.

Consider tights for girls and boys
When the temperature is around zero, they’ll need to be extra cosy. Tights are a quick and easy way to add warmth and there’s no reason why little boys shouldn’t wear them, either – after all, tights work equally well under dresses, jeans and dungarees.

Top up on T-shirts
A long-sleeved T-shirt is a good second layer for wee ones in winter as you can layer on top with cardigans, sweaters and coats but also peel down to them once you are warm inside. T-shirts come in handy for home or nursery.

Go for a gilet
When it’s really chilly, a padded gilet is the answer. We do a range of lightweight, easy-to-wash styles that suit boys and girls. Plus, a good-fitting gilet can be popped over their outfit and underneath their coat.

Dig the dungarees
Dungarees are a great option for boys and girls during winter as they add a bit of extra warmth around the core. Plus, they are one of those timeless garments that look universally cute on every child.
