All that is bright is beautiful for Caroline Issa, chief executive and fashion director of Tank Magazine, who never shies away from a bold colour or three. Welcome to her Technicolor world, as captured by The Selby.
Caroline Issa gives serious style game. A devotee of maximalist colour and print, it's her polished way with them, all sharp tailoring and sleek cuts, which sets street photographers' flashbulbs into overdrive at fashion weeks. Small wonder this chic poly-hyphenate (she consults, styles, designs and models alongside her day job at Tank) is a perennial on best-dressed lists - she makes it look so easy. Which is why we just had to ask her to share her secrets...
“I love when colours clash, I love when prints clash, and when all else fails, pick your brightest outfit in your closet. It’s a great way to express your mood; it’s an amazing way to make an entrance.”
“I would define my personal style in a true cliché, I guess, but classic with a twist – out-of-the-ordinary things in otherwise traditional pieces.”
“I gravitate towards clean and sharp silhouettes, or something with an element of drama: an off-the-shoulder top with a billowing sleeve but nipped-in waist, or a modern shirt dress with emphasis at the waist – nothing overly fussy.”
“Tailoring in the summer means light, breathable fabrics, and incorporating a playful element, whether in the texture, colour or details. Why wear a black suit when there are so many great options in more colourful fabrics?”
“I love a summer dress, the brighter and more cheerful, the better. I go for classic shirt-style dresses – button down, easy, but with some coverage. You can roll up the sleeves and belt it up to change the look.”
