5 ways to refresh your bathroom

10 May 2018

Is your bathroom looking a bit drab? It's traditionally one of the more difficult rooms to design and decorate, so it's understandable if you have avoided giving it any attention since its last lick of paint. We're here to offer you some relatively quick and easy suggestions to update the space and keep it looking smart.

We have shortlisted some key methods to help you make the most of your bathroom. We're not suggesting you completely re-design the space, this is advice on minimal effort for maximum results.

1. Storage options

One of the reasons bathrooms can look unsightly is because of the amount of stuff that seems to go hand in hand with using the room. Towels can look rather pretty when they are folded and stacked, but what about all those bathroom knick-knacks that don't look very chic or display-worthy?

Shower gels, toothbrushes and sponges can be stowed away to keep bathroom surfaces clear and clutter-free. That's why storage is such an important factor when it comes to maintaining some style in the bathroom.

From freestanding drawer units to neat little wicker-style baskets, here are our top storage options to utilise.

2. Crown the throne

Try not to laugh, but there is actually such a thing as a stylish toilet seat. It's never going to win any awards for being the most exciting purchase, but what a difference a new toilet seat can make. There is a marble-effect option, a glitter version, or of course you can always stick with the classic choice and go for a natural wood-effect finish.

It sounds like such a simple trick, but whatever style you opt for, a new toilet seat will always be a great contribution to your bathroom makeover.

3. Laundry baskets

Out of sight, and out of mind. A laundry basket is the best way of buying some extra time and avoiding those washing duties, and of course it also keeps clothes off the floor.

It can create a stylish accessory for the room. Choose a basket to suit the look of your existing bathroom from the classic Natural Willow Laundry Bin to the more contemporary Slogan Laundry Bag

Want something that will just blend right in and be discreet? We like the Rope Laundry Bag for this. It's really modest and won't be shouting for attention.

4. Towels

Want to add some elements of colour or texture to the bathroom? Not only is it nice to keep some fluffy new towels in the bathroom, especially for guests or visitors, but it's also a great way of introducing some new hues, print and texture into the space. Choose from our extensive collection of gorgeous towels, which will please everyone.

Top tip: fold your towels and display them in an open, freestanding shelving unit like this Wooden Ladder Shelf, if you have the room. Or, try a wall-mounted towel rail option instead.

5. Candles and diffusers

Ok, this admittedly is not an essential, but a scented candle or room diffuser can make the bathroom a very inviting space to relax and unwind in, and that is why we have included it in our top styling tips for the bathroom.

Shop for one of these appealing and calming scents and give your bathroom an added air of style.
