Getting back to the gym after several weeks of festive indulgence is never going to be easy. Especially that first session where your legs resemble dead weights and every stride or squat feels like punishment for all those delicious mince pies you feasted on.

Our top tip? Channel the #selfcare movement and ease your way back in. Make it a marathon, not a sprint and find a sport or activity that you love and actually look forward to doing. Maybe it’s yoga, maybe it’s swimming lengths, maybe it really is pounding ropes in a HIIT class – as long as you enjoy it, you’ll soon reap the benefits (we’re talking endorphins – washboard abs optional).
