Kate Foley Curates: The new season

The bad news: summer is over. The good news: Label/Mix’s autumn collection has dropped. If you’re scouting

contenders for your new-season wardrobe, start by snooping on the wish list of one of fashion’s perennial best dressers,

New York-based British stylist and creative consultant Kate Foley. From the graphic suit to the perfect checked overcoat

she talks through the key pieces from our exclusive designer collaborations – this season by Rejina Pyo, Isa Arfen,

L.F.Markey, Madeleine Thompson and Natasha Zinko – that will transform your wardrobe.

I live in a slightly oversized coat when the weather is cooler, and throw it over jeans, trainers and a beautiful

sweater during the day to run around the city, or in the evening, I drape it over a dress and heels. I love the masculine

cut of this Mix/Isa Arfen coat. I’m not interested in buying into a trend or an item that I don’t see lasting in my wardrobe

for years to come. I hate owning too much stuff and prefer to carefully curate my wardrobe. I only buy items that

are really well made that I know will last a long time.

I have a pretty huge collection of dresses. I find it so easy to just throw on a dress in the morning and

add my usual accessories: trainers or sandals for day and heels in the evening. I also have a large collection of

earrings which I wear on rotation daily. This Mix/Natasha Zinko dotty-print dress [coming soon] is so bold

and fun. It’s such a great lightweight silk and easy to wear. I love a full monochrome look, and wore it

with black socks and white heels.

Rejina Pyo designs brilliant suits and this is one of my favourites of hers from Label/Mix. It looks great worn in

a casual way paired with trainers or sandals, a T-shirt and jewellery. I’ve never been particularly inspired by

trends, but I really love that over the past few years the biggest ‘trend’ in fashion has really been a

focus on celebrating individual style.
