5 trends to pay attention to

14 June 2018

The weekend's London Fashion Week Men's taught us many things, starting and ending with the most important trends worth paying attention to this season. From another season where trusty old-school trainers equal top style marks, to a whole host of different ways dress up (and down) the classic suit, here's how to dress well this summer – as demonstrated by the best dressed out there.

1. Old-school trainers

The fact that the likes of New Balance are still a firm favourite at one of the most stylish events in the sartorial calendar only proves their prevalence. Sure, it may not be a hot-off-the-press trend, but it's certainly one worth paying attention to if you haven't already. Wear with anything from suits to jeans and shorts for a classic look that's hard to beat.

2. Coloured suits

Summer is officially here, so what better time to ring the changes and invest in a coloured suit to stand out from the crowd? From weddings to the workplace and everything in between, opting for a bolder colour does remarkable things for your look. Make sure you keep everything else relatively muted, and you're good to go.

3. One-tone outfits

It's been drilled into us that a good, solid outfit should be made up for varying tones and textures. And whilst the latter may still stand, it's clear by the brilliantness of this all-blue outfit that there's no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to tone. Don't be afraid to opt for the same colour for every piece in your outfit – because amazing things can definitely happen.

4. Dressed down suits

Much to our joy, dressed down suits are here to stay for another season. It's simple: take one classic tailored two-piece, mix basics like a simple white T-shirt and your favourite white trainers and you're good to go. This is the perfect outfit for everything from a job interview to a date, and is one look guaranteed to turn heads (for all the right reasons).

5. Deconstructed suits

There's a common misconception that a matching two-piece suit is the be all and end all of smart dressing, but this trend firmly squashes that (thankfully). Deconstructing two different suits (or opting for a blazer and trousers) and pairing them with smart accessories, a classic shirt and a decent pair of shoes is just as good (if not better) than reaching for a simple suit. Go on, we dare you to try it.
