As the style set descends on the capital for London Fashion Week, we caught up with The Fashion Digital’s founding director, Natalie Hughes to talk us through her must-have picks and tips for surviving the shows in style.
I was initiated into Fashion Week almost ten years ago, as a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and determinedly heel-wearing fashion writer. A decade - and several blisters - later, I run my own social media agency, The Fashion Digital, which involves running between backstage and front-of-house at our clients’ shows during LFW, and I like to think I have curated the perfect sartorial survival kit:
Firstly, I'll identify a couple of densely printed midi dresses– these will be my best friends when I’m sleep-deprived and losing the will to co-ordinate separates. Together with a pair of block-heel boots and a jewel-hued faux-fur coat, you’re good to go. I ought to address my burgeoning addiction to 1970s-style silhouettes too, from denim midi skirts to wide-leg flares, both of which pair perfectly with high-top trainers or chic courts - handy for all that frantic running around backstage. The final essential? A bag large enough to fit my massive phone but not so large it slows me down – and it’s got to have a cross-body strap, so my hands are free for snapping photos and writing notes.
