Copenhagen Fashion Week: as sartorially creative as it gets? While it may not be as high profile on the catwalk circuit as New York, London, Milan and Paris, look to the streets and it’s fast becoming the uber-cool city to watch. Our Senior Fashion Features Editor, Charlene Barton rounds up her favourite looks from the style set and how you can replicate them at home.
One thing we learned from the Scandi style set: it’s all about the coat. Even if the rest of your outfit feels a little mundane, throw on a standout piece of outerwear and both your look and confidence will be transformed in a sartorial flash. And the rules are, there are no rules – whether you opt for Crayola brights, oversized neutrals or add in some fluffy faux-fur for good measure – anything goes.
Here’s a print that is still going strong. Heritage checks were everywhere, so where do you draw the line? If you’re ready to commit fully, invest in a coat or blazer, otherwise ease your way in with separates like a shirt or tailored trousers. Add the Scandi touch by pairing it with quirky accessories or bold colour – think less linear, more fun.
Oversized jumpers and calf-grazing skirts have been making fashion headlines for a while now, but there’s a new and altogether sharper combination in town: the blazer and midi – and if the latter is pleated, even better. Think of it as a simple, 24/7 style formula that can take you from the office to after-work drinks with little need for any extra decoration. Although statement jewellery always applies in the Scandi book.
