Buyer’s guide - sofas

5 April 2018

How do you know when it's time to update your sofa? Maybe you're sitting on something that's looking just a little out of date, or potentially it's a bit too seen into and showing its age? Don't let your decor down by putting off buying a new one, it might be easier than you think to source the perfect replacement.

We have put together a handy buyer's guide to help you choose the ideal perching spot.

Consider the following key points before opting for your final choice.

Sofa pictured above is the Finnley sofa.

Not all sofas are made with the same softness. It's best to go into the store, if you can, and try out the different designs. Some are made firmer, to offer more support, whereas others are super slouchy, so that you can sink right into them. It's a personal preference, but it's best to make sure you're going to get the one that suits your needs and expectations. Putting in that little bit of research time can really pay off when it comes to delivery day. Our Gosford sofa, pictured above, has deeper seat cushions for extra softness. It's also finished in a rather stylish ochre velvet-look fabric.

Sofas come in a wide variety of different shapes and sizes, which is a good thing because it means there's lots of choice. Don't be fazed with the variety on offer when it comes to deciding on style. Here at Next we have something to suit everyone, from the more traditional shape of the Ashford sofa to the contemporary look of the Sonoma. There are fabric options, and leather ones too.

Top tip: if you're looking for longevity then maybe think before deciding on anything with a wild and wacky print or pattern. Opting for a sofa in a more muted colour tone, like this grey Highbury, means it's easy to live with and you are unlikely to get fed up thanks to the classic colour choice.

Shape and size

From super-size corner sofas and chaise designs that you can kick back and sprawl out on, to the more compact two-seater options for the space savvy buyer, there are lots of options when choosing the shape and size of a new Next sofa. Don't forget we also stock a range of very practical sofa beds too, so if you need a versatile couch that also doubles up as a bed for the night then check out our stylish selection.

Quality assurance

All our sofas are built to last. We only send them out to you after stringent safety, durability and comfort tests. We pride ourselves on making sure that we are providing both style and quality, so that our customers have a sofa that will stand the test of time and come with peace of mind.
