3 ways to style your kitchen

15 March 2018

Want to update your kitchen but don't know where to start? We have rounded up three of the most popular kitchen trends to help you cook up some style success this spring, from contemporary modern marble to the classic rustic country style. Colour fiend? We have a trend for you, too.

Modern marble

Marble is enjoying a buoyant renaissance in the interior design realm and it happens to look particularly sleek in functional spaces such as the kitchen. It's no newbie to the surfaces scene, indeed marble has existed for millennia and due to its hard wearing nature and distinct natural figuration it has always proved popular.  It is firmly believed that there is no other natural material that represents pure white as successfully as white marble does.

The downside? The luxury material comes at a price and it isn't cheap. However, you don't need to necessarily splash the cash in order to have a hint of this honoured stone at home. Choose from a selection of clever and convincing marble effect dinnerware and accessories to recreate the sleek and sophisticated style, and leave the bank balance intact.

Country farmhouse

When it comes to kitchen style, the rustic country farmhouse look will never go out of fashion. Sure it's often overshadowed by more fleeting kitchen trends and considered by some to be a little plain, but we simply can't deny that those classic looks are very appealing. It's a popular choice for a reason, all those well-worn work surfaces and spindle chairs have handsome characteristics.

Considering how costly it can be to renovate and design a kitchen this proves the sensible option, because if it isn't going to be going out of style then there's less of a need to update it. What's more this is a very liveable look, the more wear and tear that develops over time the more character the room, and the furniture, will acquire. So if you want a fail-safe kitchen style then this is the one to choose.

Colour bright

The kitchen is not always associated with colour and yet it can very easily be transformed into a colourful haven with some simple styling. Look to colourful dinnerware, like our Spinwash dinner set, and kitchen accessories to brighten up both the dining table and worktops. This season is all about yellow (read our Village Life trend feature) so we suggest homing in on some cheerful yellow tones to give the kitchen a fresh look this spring.

Top tip: use yellow as the accent colour when styling the kitchen. Paint the walls a neutral colour and allow yellow dinner plates and lighting to sing.
